Inter-Communal Youth Diplomacy Conference

WHAT IS ICYDC?

The Inter-Communal Youth Diplomacy Conference (ICYDC) is a Model United Nations-style debate, bringing together the community of Cypriot Youth for collaborative learning on issues from all over the world. This session, like previous sessions, will consist of two main events: The ICYDC Workshop (21st November 2026) and The ICYDC Conference (6-7 December 2026). The workshop will be an informative event, designed to teach applicants on the basics of diplomatic debate, as well as give them the opportunity to meet with their co-delegates. The conference itself will be a 2-day event consisting of debate in each of the 5 committees, along with a plenary session where the different committees come together to debate the best resolutions from each committee’s debate.

THE WORKSHOP

The workshop is designed to introduce delegates to ICYDC and guide them through the conference process. This activity is especially helpful for first-time participants, enabling them to become familiar with how the debates work and making the overall experience easier and more accessible. Additionally, the workshop offers an opportunity for delegates to meet and interact before the conference begins, fostering early connections and a sense of community. By easing newcomers into the conference environment and encouraging early engagement, the workshop boosts delegate confidence and participation, which supports the sustainability and success of ICYDC by promoting ongoing involvement and stronger intercommunal relationships.

THE CONFERENCE

The conference is a two-day event held at the Ledra Palace, bringing together youth from across Cyprus to engage in dialogue and debate. On the first day, delegates participate in committee sessions where they discuss assigned topics and collaborate to draft resolutions. These committee debates provide an opportunity for participants to develop skills in diplomacy, teamwork, and critical thinking within smaller groups. On the second day, all committees come together in a General Assembly to debate and vote on the resolutions created during the first day. This structure fosters comprehensive discussion and enhances intercommunal dialogue among young people.
